SMART CITY IN MADHYA PRADESH
"MADHYA PRADESH"
Madhya Pradesh, a large state in central India, retains
landmarks from eras throughout Indian history. Begun in the 10th century, its
Hindu and Jain temples at Khajuraho are renowned for their carvings of erotic
scenes, most prominently Kandariya Mahadeva, a temple with more than 800
sculptures. The eastern Bandhavgarh and Kanha national parks, noted Bengal
tiger sanctuaries, offer guided safaris.
About Smart City Mission...!!!
Bhopal, Sagar and Indore, three cities from Madhya Pradesh, have been selected by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) for smart city development. While Sagar has topped in its category of
overall performance, Indore and Bhopal have recognized for their specific
projects.
Sagar smart city development was selected in the third stack of 30 cities for smart city development in 2017.
Out of 33 applications, Sagar was selected in the last set of eight cities. Amravati and Rajkot stood second and third respectively.
MoHUA has started giving awards for cities under the Smart Cities Mission to felicitate and recognise their efforts under different categories.
Indore was recognised for riverfront development as a key initiative of the city in ABD area. Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has started the riverfront development work of Kahn river under the smart city project.
The mission was introduced in the form of a competition, called the smart city challenge. The first stage was in July 2015 when 20 cities, including Bhopal and Indore, were selected. Bhopal has been ranked in seventh position. It's public cycle sharing project was recognised by the Union ministry under smart cities mission.
These cities were required to develop their smart city plans (SCPs) and compete against each other. The SCPs were evaluated on the basis of the solutions, the processes followed, the feasibility and cost effectiveness of the plans, and citizen engagement.
Over the last four years, the ministry has announced winner cities in batches. So far, 99 cities have been selected under the Mission.
