" MAHARASHTRA " Maharashtra is a state in the western peninsular region of India occupying a substantial portion of the Deccan Plateau. It is the second-most populous state and third-largest state by area. Each city will be funded by INR 500 Cr in next 5 year once it gets declared. Seven cities out of 10 already have been declared in the first and third round where rest three is awaited for the next round. UPCOMING 20 SMART CITIES IN INDIA.  Government of India has released a list of 20 smart cities out of the  98  shortlisted for the ' Smart Cities Mission ' as first step towards redeveloping urban area . These 20 cities will be the first to receive funds, thus kick-starting the process of developing them into 'smart cities'. Under the mission, the cities propose to take up various projects, including "smart" roads, rejuvenation of water bodies, cycle tracks, walking paths, smart classrooms, skill development centers, up gradation of health facilities, and pan city projects like integrated command and control center. In the approach to the Smart Cities Mission, the objective is to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment and application of ‘Smart’ Solutions. The focus is on sustainable and inclusive development and the idea is to look at compact areas,
